Nigeria's Federal Capital City, Abuja, will not remain the same from Sunday, August, 2009, and the reason is over AY, the multiple Award winning comedian invades the city with his (usually sold-out) comedy and music concerts, AY Live.

Branded, AY Live, Abuja Invasion, and billed to hold at Sheraton Hotel Abuja, the concert, œis designed to satisfy the entertainment yearnings of lovers of comedy and music in Abuja with the invaluable and entertaining presence of Gordons, Bovi (aka Akpos of the AY show), I go Save, Klint D Drunk, Seyi Law, Bracket, MI, Kelly Hansome, Timaya, Dj Zeez, J Martins, Terry G and a host of others, AY confirms.

Since the concert promos flagged off, Abuja residents have put a bug on AY's official phone lines with frank calls of how œwe cannot wait to see AY Live, and how we have bought and watched AY Live CDs, and appreciate AY's out-of-the-box comedy concerts.

Stella Damasus (along side Kate Henshaw-Nuttal), was one of the MC's of AY Live, Lagos Invasion 2. On Sunday, her younger colleauge, and City People's Actress of the Year, Mercy Johnson is MC. She will be joined by Frank ˜the millionaire Edoho.

Few weeks after mesmerizing the world on CNN’s Screening Room, where he spoke extensively about the huge potentials inherent in Nollywood and what makes the second largest film producing nation globally very unique, Nigerian born internationally acclaimed filmmaker,

Lancelot Oduwa Imasuen, is set to receive and give out more honours and laurels.

Gathered that City People magazine recently honoured the well-traveled director at his native Benin, Edo State, South-South Nigeria, for his immense contributions to the nation’s home video scene.

The historic event, according to Imasuen, who just returned from a global tour/premiere of Ebuwa, his latest language film, in the US, UK and Canada, the honour further attests to the fact that he has done extremely well for Nollywood and himself as a film maker cum cultural ambassador with an undying passion and belief in the Nigerian project.

Penultimate week when Ruggedy Baba as Michael Ugochukwu Stephen a.k.a Ruggedman is fondly called mounted the stage at Oniru Private Beach in Lekki serviced by the billionaire property merchant Fatai Animashaun, Fat Anny, to do what he knows how to do best-Music, he never envisaged the embarrassment he got from the very large crowd.

When Ruddeman got to the stage, from nowhere, an unidentified person threw a sachet of dirty water to him on stage. The attack which infuriated Michael, we learnt led him to stop the show as he was raining curses on the unknown culprit.

According to an eye witness account, Ruggedy’s appearance on stage only received an average ovation due to the fact that Mode 9, who has been rivalry with the Abia State born rapper, Ruggedy Baba had the largest fans at the place. Bad belle people have even fingered Mode 9 and his cohorts in the ‘dirty water saga’.

Could that be true? We shall keep you posted

TARUWA is a bi-weekly event (every second Tuesday) hosted by Gbagyichild, spearheaded by the wonderful Lydia Idakula. It is an event which creates a platform for artistes to express themselves in an intellectual setting. Taruwa holds at The Black Pearl on Akin Adesola, Victoria Island from 7pm to 9pm. We have a lot of fun and we have had guest artistes in the house.
