Hawa Ahmed - Winner of Next Top Model Sweden 2007

Hawa Ahmed competed in the Swedish Next Top Model competition and walked away the grand prize winner. It is no surprise that she won, as she is beautiful, graceful, and intelligent. Originally from Somalia, she moved with her family to Sweden to get away from the unrest in her homeland. Her humility is refreshing, and her style unforgettable. Enjoy these pictures of her.

AFRICAN MUSIC AWARDS
Musically speaking, 2008 has been a year full of firsts; first it was the MTV African Music Awards, which was a big success, and, in a couple of weeks, live in London on December 27 2008, the African Music Awards (AMA) organization will present the first African Music Awards.

Aimed at promoting the diverse and rich African culture through music, it will be televised to over 10 million viewers worldwide with performances from the Continent’s giants. The AMA organizers are making sure no stones are left unturned as they strive to make the event a night to top all nights and use the award show to raise funds for the HIV/AIDS orphans in Africa.

In a press release, Eric McKaiser, the CEO and Founder of the AMA had this to say: ” African music is the eternal bond between millions of others, like me, and our roots; mother land. Over the many years, I have observed that it is the magnificent medium of African music which is an enduring and lovable link between Africans in the diaspora and their folks back home. Be they following the latest stars and songs, or cherishing old classics. The music lovers in the UK and elsewhere are in close touch with the industry’s happenings in Africa. By staging the African Music Awards in the UK, African entertainers will get the opportunity to acquire global exposure on a greater level, whilst audiences get the opportunity to see and party with Africa’s top performers, most of whom are, so far, unknown outside of Africa”.

With the A-list music moguls, film legends, fashion gurus and football stars expected to grace the event, the African Music Awards are looking like one of the must-attend events for the holiday season.

Before i leave you, you would have noticed that in my last series of blogs, i always leave you with something to ponder about, something we can always discuss before we hook up again...today, as usual, am gonna leave you with a bit of controversial issue...

Same-Sex Kiss in Ghana movies: Which Is More Acceptable?

Is there a double standard in the Ghana movie industry when it comes to seeing same-sex kisses on screen?Are make-out sessions between two females more widely accepted than two guys? The reason is: The movie Jezebel was the first Ghanaian movie to feature two women kissing openly.

The sequel to the movie is even more raunchier..and you almost want to scream out "Pearl Klugenu — you can come out of the closet now".

Now lets flip the table, if this same movie featured two Ghanaian actors openly kissing each other, what would have been the public reaction?

It is now apparent that directors featuring lesbian themes in movies is widely acceptable otherwise there wouldn't be a Jezebel Part 4 with more lesbian action scenes. I myself do not wish to see neither Sex make out on screen whether is two females or two males.

Which is more controversial? Men-kissing-men or Females-kissing-Females?
