The Kentro World of Olu Maintain

Personally, i have a relationship with this finest of Nigerian artiste, he is a dude, i have had the opportunity of doing an interview with him for F.M.& B(thats another reason you need to pick up the nexdt edition in September, you will be

blown away) and for N.T.A. and on each occassions, it was fresh and very thought provoking moment. He is not just your next door artiste but one who is a big friend of the house and makes you just wanna go and be the best of you you would ever want to be...read this inspiring one on him by Tosin Ajirere...

For Olumide Edwards Adegbulu aka Olu Maintan

, it’s a brand new “Kentro World”. After ruling the scene for several months with a smash hit entitled, Yahoozee, the musician is not relenting. Right now, he is neck deep in a new project tagged “Karma Kazee”.

Olu is not alone in his new musical world. He has dragged along four vibrant young men including Nathan Bondo aka Bondo Krazzy, Folusho Bobitey aka DaFols, Folarin Jackson aka Flo and Olabode Omolaja aka DJ Freaky T.

When dropped, the new work parading Olu as a leading voice in songs like Karma Kazee, a Japanese word for selflessness, sacrifice and dropping bombs, Tomatoe and Takarewa among others, will indeed make the Kentros the newest dudes on the hip hop block.

However, one guy uniquely stands out of the lot. He is Bondo Krazzy, a multi talented young man from the northern part of the country. With his trademark Hausa cap,

the Kano indigene sings and raps fluently in both English and Hausa languages. He contributed immensely to Olu ‘s popular tracks like Yahoozee, Fatima and Yahoozee remix.

While Flo has been living up to his stage name and quite understands the basic musical rules, DJ Freaky T’s skills should stand him out among his peers. And with his good looks and perfect lyrics, DaFols, who also contributed to Yahoozee, would emerge as a force to reckon with in the industry.
Apart from these, Olu’s deal with Afrobeat artiste Femi Kuti forms a part of a larger musical effort. The collabo is bringing forth Lady, a rehash of a popular song done by Afrobeat legend,

Fela Anikulapo-Kuti. It is perhaps the first time Femi will be collaborating with an Afro hip-hop musician on a major scale.

Says Olu: “The choice of Lady is from the obvious position of women in the society as mothers, homemakers, peacemakers and caretakers of men. As an excerpt from the legendary Fela’s track, Lady, African women prefer to be addressed as ladies, so to all my African females, Lady is for you.”
