THE VAN VICKER 'BROTHERHOOD'

A Ghanaian newspaper, recently published an article involving Mr. Joseph Van Vicker, a Ghanaian movie icon, and a Liberian, his supposed half-brother. The story published reveals that the Liberian who gave his name as Frank Vicker, with an uncompromising strength of determination, visited Ghana in search of his brother, Van Vicker. Mr. Frank Vicker claimed his mother had told him about a brother who's where-about is still unknown and so his quest is to search out his brother.

meanwhile, yours truly Ghanaian correspondent has said a meeting between Mr. Van Vicker and the supposed half brother in Accra about the development ended without a success. It was in this meeting that Van Vicker denied having any brother for as long as he can remember even after Frank Vicker had shown him several birth marks justifying his claim. Furthermore, the story went on to state that Mr. Frank Vicker, an up-coming movie star, whose two film-shots─ not too long ago ─ is yet to hit the Ghanaian movie market. Frank Vicker declared that his desire to meet Van Vicker had nothing to do with Van's fame or successes but rather, a restoration of brotherhood.

However,according to other reports, Mr. Van Vicker revealed a contradictory account. Van Vicker uncovered that before this story will punctuate the print media, Frank had contacted him earlier seeking his help to be featured in a movie. Being a considerate producer and director Van Vicker, though unwilling to produce him, managed to get Frank the contact numbers of some few producers he knew could help. He did this so Mr. Frank Vicker can get in touch with some helpers but this too failed as these producers would not give Frank a favorable response. And before Van could swallow some saliva he is in the firm grips of both the print and the electronic media.

Van rebuked those who claimed that his refusal to accept Mr. Frank Vicker as a brother has to do with his unwillingness to share his numerous successes in life with Frank. He said, and I quote, “Why will I want to deny my brother because I am successful; if I am successful who will I want to help more…my brother of course”

Van Vicker is currently running a foundation that is meant to give back to society and to share his successes with upcoming youth who desire to pursue career in acting. He has invented a TALENT TV reality show that is yet to hit the electronic screens as well as giving to the deprived in society some essential goods they really need. The question is why should Mr. Van Vicker want to help the needy in society who are total strangers to him and refuse to help his blood-bond brother whom he had lost touch with upon finding him? The reality is; there is no such brother.

As the situation stands now, Van Vicker told newsmen that he called Frank and cautioned him to keep his distance away from his family after being advised by his lawyers not to make this matter a court case due to its irrelevance. He is currently enjoying time with his cherished family whom he loves truly.
