Actor Eamonn Walker will join the cast of the psychological drama “Sinking Sands”, which is set to be shot in Ghana by Ghanaian film maker, Leila Djansi. The English-actor is best known for his role as Kareem Said on HBO’s “Oz” (1997) for which he won a CableAce Award for Best Actor in a Dramatic Series. Walker began his professional acting career on stage in London Theaters in 1983 and transitioned to television in 1985 with United Kingdom’s ITV series “Dempsey & Makepeace.”
His first film role was in “Young Soul Rebels” (Prestige, 1991), which opened the doors to stardom. Walker would go on to play in a host of films to include “Unbreakable” (Buena Vista Pictures, 2000) with Bruce Willis and Samuel L. Jackson, and his most notable role as Howlin’ Wolf in “Cadillac Records” (Tri Star Pictures 2008) along with Oscar winner Adrien Brody and Beyonce.
Other popular television roles for Walker include Rev. Ephram Samuels on NBA series “Kings” (2009) and Dr. Stephen Dakarai on NBC’s “ER” (2006).
Walker joins Jimmy Jean-Louis and Ama K. Abebrese, who are playing leads, as Dr. Zach Matthews. The film tells the story of a couple, Jimah (Jean-Louis) and Pabi (Abebrese) in a loving marriage which turns into one of violence and abuse when Jimah becomes disfigured in a domestic accident.
“Sinking Sands” will be directed by Africa Movie Academy Awards nominee Leila Djansi. The film is financed through The David Djansi Memorial Film Fund and its Australian Associates. The film begins shooting at the end of May 2010 in Accra, Ghana
The film is produced by Turning Point Picture and is distributed by Neoclassic Films Studios.
