Following on from the wide success of the AfricaMagic and AfricaMagic Plus channels on DStv, M-Net is now charting a new course for the popular television brand, with two more spin-off channels which debuted on March 1.
AfricaMagic Hausa and AfricaMagic Yoruba are now available to DStv subscribers on channels 117 and 118 respectively and will run 12 hours daily.
The channels will feature the best of Nigerian movie content, in the languages of two of Nigeria’s major communities, the Hausa and Yoruba people. And ensuring that the channels can also draw a wider continental audience, both channels are sub-titled in English so that African viewers from other countries can still enjoy the drama, fun and entertainment that Nigerian films are famous for.
Designed to reflect the cultural diversity of Africa’s most populous nation, the two channels look set to follow the success of Nollywood based AfricaMagic and the East African focused AfricaMagic Plus channels in providing DStv’s African audiences with even more homegrown African programming.
“We’re very happy to launch these two new channels,” says Biola Alabi, Managing Director of M-Net Africa.
...why not...when you make more than half of what you make in all over Africa in our country, you won't be happy?...anyway...it's a good development though and truly, from this side of the divide, we hight commend the M-Net team for this innovation...Keep up the good work.
