‘Half of a Yellow Sun’ to Be Made Into A Film
Chimamanda Adichie’s novel, Half of a Yellow Sun is soon to be introduced to audiences on the big screen. Speaking at a recent book signing in Australia, Chimamanda noted that she would not be involved in any aspect of the movie production. She did note that she expects that the storyline will remain true to the book as the production team that produced ‘The Last King of Scotland’ will be producing this film.
Chimamanda’s achievements and accolades continue to grow and this year has been a particularly rewarding one. Chinua Achebe has noted that she is truly gifted; she won the prestigious Orange Prize for Fiction for Half of a Yellow Sun in 2007; the novel received accolades from the literary world including mentions in CNN and the Washington Post.
She won a MacArthur Foundation fellowship, popularly known as a “genius grant”, which came with an obligation-free annual grant of $100,000 for a five-year period; and somehow found time to author a new book, ‘The Thing Around Your Neck‘ (a collection of stories).

Fire guts NFVC Plateau office | |
The fire started around 4.30 pm shortly after workers closed for the day, but the cause remains a mystery because neither the public electricity nor the generating set were on at the time of the incident, according to some members of staff of the corporation. The fire, coming on the heels of the recent searchlight of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on the corporation over an alleged N12 million scam, is setting tongues wagging among members of staff and the public. Top members of the management of the establishment were recently questioned by operatives of the anti-graft agency over an alleged diversion of funds meant for the relocation of the corporation to Abuja which was later shelved. A similar mysterious fire also gutted the administrative department of the establishment some years ago following investigations into some of the activities. hmnnn...na wa in naija o! na only when EFCC don ready to investigate our leaders that fire suddenly from nowhere razes down the building....i hope our bank chiefs will also not suddenly raze down their bank offices or even the CBN...ok that was a silly joke right? Ok, thats is for today.... See you peeps later! |
