Obama awards Bishop Desmond+John Legend and Keri Hilson to invade South Africa+'The Tenant' Premier's in Lagos+KATE HENSHAW-NUTTAL CELEBRATES BIRTHDAY

Mr President Barack Obama awards Bishop Desmond

President Obama awarded the Presidential Medal’s of Freedom to Bishop Desmond Tutu and 15 other honorees including Sen. Edward M. Edwards Kennedy, Billie Jean King, Sidney Poitier, Muhammad Yumnus, and scientist Stephen Hawking.

The prestigious event took place August 12 2009, at the White House where president Obama will present the the Medal of Freedom.

Desmond TutuIn a public release statement Desmond Tutu said that he was overwhelmed, deeply honored, humbled, and speechless. He went on to say that “as always I am so aware that it’s really given to me representatively, I could not be who I have been without the millions of people who honored me by agreeing for me to be their leader”.
Congratulations goes out to all those who paved the way and were honored.

John Legend and Keri Hilson to invade South Africa

Thanks to Twitter for the immediate news release. John Legend has confirmed his South African tour, scheduled to take place in mid-October 2009. It will start off in Cape Town, then on to Johannesburg, and end in Durban.

In a release statement, the Grammy award winner confirmed that singer/song writer/producer, ‘Ms Knock You Down‘, Keri Hilson will be joining him as a special guest for the tour which is sponsored by Heineken, Presenting Media Partner, Heart FM, Gagasi FM, Kaya FM, and Another BIG Concert Experience.
This will be John Legend’s first big tour in South Africa and Keri Hilson’s first trip down there and, by the look of things, it’s not only John and Keri who are excited about the tour, but John and Keri’s South African fans who have been expressing their excitement through Facebook, Twitter, and several blogs.

The TENANT, a movie which was also written, produced, and directed by Jude Idada and Lucky Ejim, two Nigerian emigrants in Canada was shot at various locations in Canada and Nigeria with Dare ‘BabaDee’ Fasasi as co-director.
Faced with the onerous challenge of breaking into Hollywood, the duo of Lucky Ejim, and Jude Idada founded the film production company called Broken Manacles Entertainment Inc.
The movie has already won international accolades that include:

  • Audience Choice Award, Best Feature Film–(Hollywood Black Film Festival2009), Beverly Hills, California;
  • Best Feature Film – (Moving Image Film festival2008), Toronto Canada.

The movie billed to premiere in Lagos sometime in October, 2009 at the cinemas tells the tale of the average African emigrant in search of a better future for himself and his family:

Obinna, a Nigerian refugee in Canada, faces deportation in 30 days. When all hope seems lost, a chance confrontation with Timothy, his terminally ill landlord, provides him an opportunity to remain in the country. Timothy who is a former immigration officer makes him a deal; he will intervene in his pending deportation if Obinna finds his estranged daughter Nicole and convinces her to see him one last time before he dies. With the clock ticking, Obinna fights to save his dreams, in the course of which he stumbles on a discovery that will shake the very foundations of his beliefs.

KATE HENSHAW-NUTTAL CELEBRATES BIRTHDAY
It was an interesting evening of entertainment, fun and interactive session with the Nigerian Screen Diva Kate Henshaw-Nuttall. Her husband, a genuinely nice guy - Rod Nuttall was there to celebrate with fans of Kate.
