Obama kicks off visits to Russia, Italy, Ghana

Hey peeps, i kinda feel...ok, cant put a word on it right now but some nostalgia being here today...it's different from the other days...i just feel happy.

Well, no matter what it is or what is coming, i really am willing to let this feeling stay with me as long as i can hold on to it...it feels good being happy, you know, knowing you have not done anything extra-special, won any lottery or being offered a magical night by any lady, you know just being happy because you are happy...this is indeed a great feeling.

Ok, to the business of the day...they, we, you and even i(ok...hope that came out right?..lol) by now must have either read, heard or watched on the news the historic visit of the first black president of the most powerful country on earth;AMERICA!

Like the two previous visits by US Presidents Bill Clinton and George W. Bush in 1998 and 2008 respectively, the visit of President Barack Hussein Obama is generating great excitement among Ghanaians.

U.S. President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama and their daughter Malia walk to board the Marine One helicopter on the South Lawn at the White House in Washington, DC, en route to Andrews Air Force Base to leave for Russia.

What has helped to make the historic visit more significant is the fact that Ghana, a small country of about 23 million people, which covers an area of about 238,538 sq, km. (92,100 sq. mi.); has been chosen over and above other African countries which consider themselves more powerful in terms of population and geographical size.

With Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of ( $15.2 billion (2007): Real GDP growth rate ( at 6.3 per cent (2007) and Per capital GDP of $690 (2007), Ghanaians cannot boast of being rich. But who says it is only wealth and population size that matter when it comes to international relations.

President Obama is coming to Ghana with his wife, Michelle and Ghanaians will welcome them ingrand style. In fact, there are signs to that effect

The visit has inspired an artist to produce an "unsellable" artwork
Ghanaian and American flags are flapping boisterously at the forecourt of the Accra International Conference Centre where the national colours of the two nations also drape the walls and inside of the main hall.

When President Barrack Obama lands in Ghana today, it would be the third time in 11 years that a sitting American President is visiting the country, and like his predecessors, Obama is coming on board "Air Force One".

Security personnel have been posted at vantage points throughout the city, while the police have announced the closure of a number of roads in the capital. On the markets, Obama paraphernalia are in hot demand.

The visiting President and entourage are expected to touch down at Kotoka International Airport at 8:30p.m. and will be hosted to a breakfast meeting with His Excellency President John Evans Atta Mills. Ghana two living former presidents, Jerry Rawlings and John Kufuor, will also be in attendance.

hmnnn...ok, by now am sure you are still not asking yourself why is HE not visiting Nigeria? Well, if you are then am sorry, that will be a story for another day...:))

Well it's not only the world's most powerful man who is visiting Africa, after all...
