The Making Of 'Eko Atlantic City'

The “New City on the Atlantic” which the Lagos State government is planning to develop is part of the Mega City Project.

The N416.5 billion Eko Atlantic City project involves reclaiming over eight square kilometres of land along Bar Beach on Victoria Island and building a mix of residential, commercial, financial and tourist accommodation. Besides providing much-needed accommodation and office space, the project also aims to restore the land lost to coastal erosion over the last 60 years and provide a permanent solution to the problem. Originally the development was to be handled by the Chagoury Group, one of West Africa’s leading construction firms.

Upon completion Eko Atlantic City will to provide residential accommodation for 250,000 people. The development is also expected to provide employment for at least 50,000 people.
