GHANA' GHOLLYGOLD OVERTAKES NOLLYYWOOD

THE FLASH BACK!
The Nigerian film industry, known as Nollywood, has exploded in the last 10 years. Now more popular than imports of Hollywood or Bollywood films, the Nigerian film industry has distinguished itself by shooting all films on digital video. The sheer volume of Nigerian video-films is staggering: one estimate has a film being produced for each day of the year. Nollywood is now the third largest film industry in the world, generating 286 million dollars annually for the Nigerian economy. And yet this vibrant, profitable industry is virtually unknown outside of Africa.

THE STORY NOW
According to the power's that be in the Nigerian movie industry popularly known as 'Nollywood', the Ghana movie industry has overtaken the Nollywood in most areas.

It started with Ghanaian actos featuring more predominantly in the Nigerian movies and continued to where it is now, Ghana producers and marketers dictating the tune, ensuring that Ghanaian actors are used in every flick if not, such movie will never be marketed on the shores of the Gold Coast.

Ghana now sells more movies both home and abroad than Nollywwod. It was revealed recently by top producers and marketers that Ghana is now the toast plate where you are guaranteed of selling more movies than even in Nigeria; for most Nigerian producers, the story is even heart breaking considering the fact that even in Africa and in places like the United Kingdom and the United States as well as in Dubai and other territories which used to be the preserved market for Nollywood films, where Nigerian films used to be the 'in-thing', its now different as Ghanaian movie sseem to have overtaken that of Nollywood.

Ghollygold, as used in describing the Ghanaian movie industry is daily waxing stronger while Nollywood is losing  market share.
