Wow! It seemed just like yesterday when we turned 48, and today…Believe it or not folks, today, our beloved fatherland; Nigeria is 49 years old.
BUT…
… What more to celebrate than a dearth of the right leadership and nationhood…What more to celebrate than political killings amidst the nest of killers and cabal of con men with a sprinkle of lethal dross……
What more to celebrate than darkness and poverty amidst abundant prosperity… incessant strikes…and of failed political promises…
What more to celebrate than political hypocrisy and administrative profligacy and brigandage of the highest order…A celebration of police brutality and soul sickening ordeals…
Too much pain than gains!
Too much pain than gains!
But we cannot give up hope on Nigeria. It’s still our fatherland, our home, and there’s no place like home.
A friend told me recently, ‘he who has a Godfather in Heaven can never go to Hell’…and I thought, oh! How true…
There is no doubt that the whole nation is engulfed in a happy mood, you know, that joyful season of proudly wearing our national colours…letting the rest of the world knows that no matter what they think about us or feel about us, even if we really cared at all about any,
TODAY, we chose not to care, in fact, we chose to live in that euphoria, or should I say fantasy land of believing all is well, that our nation is the safest place, a place that has all in abundance, a place where democracy, rule of law, principles and honesty in business and character thrives, a place where our leader’s care about us and puts the needs of the masses before their wants… a place where we are all just a HAPPY PEOPLE!
I know deeply that no matter what…
We still love Nigeria…
