i have been battling with this thought since i left the SMVA if i should do
an early morning blogging about the event or not.
well i checked some of my favourite blogs and i realised that nothing has been bloogged about the event yet...two things...its ether all my favourite blooggers are still sleeping, (a hang over if you call it like i just told a friend) or getting the right words, phrases, and adjectives hasnt just come yet...for events such as this, you need a ll the inspiration to do it right.
well my gist master, niyi tabiti did a litte, i was calling him through thursday into friday to confirm his attendance but unfortunately, he was out of lagos.
ok now to the SMVA...first, (am going to do a step by step account)
i arrived at the MUSON Centre at about 3:pm, according to Denrele, thats when Press accreditation will take place, but as usual (even though Anty FUnmi Iyanda says she hates this phrase with a passion) in our Nigerian style, we were kept out for another three hours...the Soundcity accrediation guy (lamide, am sure i got it right) was no where to be found, and when he was eventually found, he was full of some cock and bull stories about how there were too many media people, can you imagine that???
anyway, media people were "beating to salt" when a heavy downpour started (all because of SMVA-media people we dey suffer oh!)
well, another complain now by some invited musical artistes was, they did not get invites while virtually all actors and actresses got two or more invites (is SMVA for actors, i dare to ask)
somehow, i feel Uncle TAj doesnt have an idea some of this things were happening, getting to the after party venue (K'Place), it was massive crowd, as usual, media people were asked to stay at the "Regular"..well myself and Ifenna (back2back mag) left for Club Matrix (2nd after party venue) even though this venue was not packed out, we still had fun.
most of the reporters had their camera men outside...if you ask em, it was advantagious for some of us, cos i got instant cntract to double as cameraman for some top media houses...(cool bucks...well i should be rich this coming week...i believe..lol)
All in all, apart from this little, nitty gritty setbacks(my opinion anyway)the SMVA was the bomb.
it had all the glitz, glamour and razzmatazz that yu can imagine on the red card and in the main hall.
..you needed to see the way the Psquare guys and their brother, Jude jumped on the stage when they won awards. also the trio of Eedris ,Tony Tetuila and Eddy Montana of Remedies fame, when they came on stage to perform. What came to my mind is 'retired but not tired'.Mayb, they should go back to Kennis Music so that they can get all the attention again.Thats crazy!
for P-Square,they won the best Choreography and Best Video of the year. Now, I believe they won’t go and shout that SMVA is a ‘Yoruba’ hip Hop awards.Atleast from comment; they would realize that each award organizers has its own parameters for judging.Afterall, Soundcity is owned by Tajudeen Adepetu and most of the key people there are Yoruba.

What surprises me most was that Nas, American based international rapper performed with the same kind of dress he wore when I saw his pictures at the Airport on Thursday taken by niyi tabiti. Is that his new identity?
