CHANGE THE CHANGE!

2009 is already here and counting...Just the way today is 6th is the same manner it will be 31st December before you think ‘jack Robinson’.

One thing I never cease to tell young people each time I have the opportunity is Nigeria is a blessed land; it’s a place of immeasurable opportunities, a training ground, a place to make the whole difference you’ve ever dreamt of in your life. I dare say if you can make it here, there is nowhere in the world you can’t make it.

I had the choice of staying in my parents comfortable home country (well to those of you who don’t know, know it now, my parents are Bahamian, Ghanaian & Nigeria), but I choose Naija, I told myself a long time ago I wanted to feel what it means to be independently hardworking and succeeding at it; today, am glad am making so much difference, even though there is still room for much more. No matter where I am, or would be, I say always that Nigeria is an inspiration to me, it’s a source of blessing to be in this country...though I love my parent home country and the joy of visiting always is mind blowing and fun, Nigeria is always different, the heat of succeeding is here and when you are here you know there is only one thing that is negotiable...just one way...just one option..SUCCEEDING!

Much as it has become a cliché, the only change in life is change itself, don’t expect to do the same things you were doing last year and for a different result. lf you were sleeping 8 hours last year and made 1kobo, don’t expect to make 2kobo by sleeping same hours...if you want to make a change or rather have that change in your life this year, then I encourage you, ARISE, TAKE HOLD OF YOUR DESTINY, for CHANGE IS NOW!

Don’t wait for anyone to encourage you, you have to psyche yourself up, tell yourself ‘I can do it’. There is no word such as impossible, if they tell you it is impossible, Please, kindly don’t ever forget they are actually trying to tell you that I’M’POSSIBLE, not IMPOSSIBLE’, you are the only possibility the world had waited for all this while, now that you are here, would you be selfish and wicked enough to deprive the world of that possibility(YOU)?, would you be joining the bandwagon of the rest of its lazy bunch to comfort yourself with ‘it’s impossible’? then I tell you to look for the deepest ocean and jump into it, and please, while you are at it, don’t forget to drown, cos’ we already have too many impossible people here wasting away already...people who would rather do nothing and wait for manner to fall down from heaven...people who would rather plot dubious ways of scheming others of their hard earned wealth...people who would pan for the gradual fall of other...

There is no such joy man has ever known than that which comes through hard work, determination and the joy of self succeeding...remember, it doesn’t matter whether its from your room or even your backyard, just start, start and start, no matter how silly and NO MATTER HOW SMALL OR SILLY THE IDEA SEEMS, go ahead, STAY AT IT, WORK AT IT, PUSH AT IT, and in all of it, SUCCEED AT IT And most importantly, PRAY AT IT!

Don’t wait for the government, don’t wait for the crumbs that will fall from their table, rather, decide you would lend to your government...make it a vision to become a force to be reckoned with by your government...you have it all in you...on the very inside of you..reach forth deep within and let it forth...

Remember, CHANGE IS NOW, after all, one man has shown us it can be done, it is so possible to say there is a lifting up when men say there is a casting down, the lines has fallen onto you in pleasant places, you have a goodly heritage, you are the kings kid, he has brought you in on it for such a time as this, take advantage of the season and make that CHANGE NOW!

I saw this picture somewhere on the net and Bouy was i moved, i was inspired...am hoping that it would have the same effect it had on me on you too...See you at the top.

THE DRIVE:
NO MATTER HOW SMALL OR SILLY THAT IDEA SEEMS, go ahead, STAY AT IT, WORK AT IT, PUSH AT IT, and in all of it, SUCCEED AT IT And most importantly, PRAY AT IT!

New Year's 2009 Fireworks World-Wide

All around the world people celebrated the New Year. In many cities, From Sydney to New York and Auckland to London, revellers greeted 2009 with pyrotechnic shows and street parties.
Some 400,000 people braved freezing temperatures in London for a fireworks display beside the Thames.
In New York almost a million people packed a freezing Times Square as the famous Waterford crystal ball descended to cheers at midnight. the celebrations included fireworks, parades, parties and other festivities.

Whether you spent the night letting loose and enjoying the fireworks, parting at a friend’s house, dancing your heart out at a club, or quietly ringing in the New Year with friends and family…most likely, people all over the globe were virtually doing the same thing! I did say i was going to bring you guys pictures of how the world celebrated THE NEW YEAR-JANUARY 1ST in their country...(after all, the world is bigger than Nigeria and ...i dare say that in Nigeria, we are yet to fully understand the way to celebrate the New Year...)Here is a list of some of the best New Years Eve events around the world:

1. NEW YORK CITY'S annual Times Square celebration
The famous ball drop atop One Times Square has been a tradition dating back to 1906. Each year, hundreds of thousands of people descend upon Times Square to experience this free event. As usual, this year was no exception...creative fire works in its best of forms.

2. Fireworks from the LONDON Eye Since 2003, London has celebrated New Year's Eve with amazing fireworks, organized by the Mayor of London and renowned pyrotechnician Christophe Berthonneau. Launched from the 442ft London Eye, the spectacular ten-minute fireworks showed one of the best fireworks displays in Europe projecting beautiful colors and lights across the capital in celebration of the New Year.

3. Picnic at the Champs Elysées in PARIS: The Champs Elysées is the top choice for a New Years Eve celebration in Paris. From many places on the Champs-Elysees, you can get a good view of the Eiffel Tower, which sparkles with light and fireworks at the stroke of midnight. Trust the french, even with fireworks, the spark of 'fashion' and 'romance' is never lost.

4. On the beach in RIO DE JANEIRO: New Year's Eve in Rio, or Reveillon, is one of the biggest events of the year. The main party takes place along Copacabana beach, with over two million people partying and enjoying an eclectic mix of fireworks, samba and bands that celebrate African, Christian and indigenous traditions. Well you know how the samba guys do it...they every way blow your mind all along the way. Personally, am looking forward to being part of a new year in this Gods country...lol...is that a tall dream???

5. Tolling of the bell in MOSCOW:
New Year's Eve, or Noivy God as it is in Russian, is celebrated by gathering in the Red Square to await the tolling of the Saviour clocktower, As New Year arrived, people took to the streets and went calling on friends and neighbours, celebrating until dawn.

6. Dance the night away in CAPE TOWN: Cape Town hosted one of the country's biggest bashes with fireworks, music, dancing and more at the Victoria and Alfred Waterfront Complex, a restored historic fishing terminal with chic restaurants and bars. The southerners did it their way, the way they know how to do it best.

7. Light Parade and Midnight Fireworks in SYDNEY: Sydney offers a Harbour of Light Parade, where 55 vessels made their way around a 15km circuit on Sydney Harbour. At midnight Sydney bursted the night sky open with kaleidoscopic colour and shapes. This spectacular show took place in the world’s best open theatre - fireworks firing from six barges on Sydney Harbour, seven skyscraper rooftops and across the iconic arch of the Sydney Harbour Bridge.

8. Raise the Red Lantern in SHANGHAI
The Chinese New Year Festival in Shanghai is celebrated usually on the first day of the year of the lunar calendar. In a way that is ever unique and exciting, the chinese made their point went went into history as one of the organisers of the best New year celebrations.

Yup! thats it...pictures from major cities around the world and how each country celebrated the NEW YEAR with fireworks, parades, parties and much more...

I hope that by next year, Nigeria would have done enough to be on the map...

cheers!
